counselling / psychotherapist
Sometimes we just need space to talk and to be heard. Sometimes we feel the need to work through life experiences that may be preventing us from moving forward in the way that we’d like to. Kelly believes that as people we are complex and issues can interrelate, so as such she doesn’t confine her practice to certain areas of counselling. Often the presenting reason for counselling can lead people to look at other areas of their lives to facilitate processing. She works together with clients for either short-term or long-term therapy, according to what they need. Her approach draws on the various counselling theories she’s studied, including person-centred, psychodynamic and humanistic, but really it is the individual counselling relationship itself that drives the work. She works with each client in the way that works best for them. She has a BSc psychology degree and a BTEC Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. She’s also studied reiki to level 2 and has a great interest in holistic health.
For Kelly, being a therapist is a privilege. She has been on both sides of therapy, as part of her training and personally, and she is acutely aware of the level of trust that needs to be established within the therapeutic relationship.
